A good clean comfortable room. Something should be done about the central area where kitchen exhaust pipes are situated. This is infested with pigeons and is extremely unhygenic
The dining room staff were excellent however the receptionist was completely uninterested in assisting guests. We had some difficulty accessing the parking area but she did not help in any way. She did not advise how to get out of the car park when we left and we were forced to leave the car and return inside to find out the method to be used. It is a shame that she dragged down the standard of the remainder of the staff.
Poor quality rubbish noisy bed. Standard double room doesn't have intercom/phone, no shaving socket in bathroom and the worst thing was no sea view at all even after choosing beachside hotel.
the room we stayed in 317 flooded at 1.30am so we had to change rooms and i was not a happy person
I Found the all the staff i met very pleasant and helpful
the only one thing we liked was the size of the room
poor food staff not helpfull dirty carpets all bad
On the whole there is a relaxed atmosphere at the Metropole with a few exeptions. The conservatory area is excellent service drinks, inc alcohol and snacks, very reasonably priced. We stayed on a Sunday evening and althougth there were not many people in the caberet lounge in the evening, there was still lots of entertainment.
Although the main feeling is relaxed the gentleman on reception was a little abrupt, we were told what time to attend for dinner, 5pm, which is very early. On departure I was told to drop my key in the collection box with no other social interaction from him at all. A smile and an enquiry about our stay wouldn't have gone amiss.
I have been to this hotel several times over the last 15 years and recognised staff from previous visits - especially in the dining room and this to me speaks volumes. Most other hotels have a quick turnover of staff.
The carpet in our room was stained in several places and fabric on the furniture had white ?water marks in places but it was clean and comfortable - otherwise no complaints. The 5p.m. sitting for dinner is far too early for me but - on request - it was changed and the food was good. I think for what I paid the package was pretty good.
Helpful polite staff pleasant room with sea view, good breakfast.
slight air of neglectbathroom rather small access to shower awkward
No towels, smell in Bathroom which affected bedroom, noisy plumbing during night, no hot water. My worst hotel experience anywhere ever.
The sea facing view and the large roomy room was great. Although the hotel is on the prom it is only minutes from main shopping centre. Room very quiet and well heated. The hotel has its own raised walk way at the front of the car park which is within the hotel grounds. Great for some sea air just before bed when there is no access to the prom.
The work going on at the sea front and tram lines is very inconvenient (in fairness I don't think this is the hotels fault.) Because of diversions, driving in B/pool is a nightmare at present. The north area seems quite run down with 'beggar' types in closed shop doorways. Once again this is not the fault of the hotel. We walked within the hotel grounds after dark and it was ok.
Por car parking arrangements.
The location is perfect for the centre of Blackpool and the seaside.
Internal windows do have a problem with pigeon droppings, but difficult to combat.
The room was lovely and had a sea view (pity so much wind and rain meant we couldn't appreciate it). The food was nice and plentiful.
The reception staff were snappy, rude, and had a couldn't care less attitude, gave a very bad first impression of the hotel which was actually very nice. A few little luxuries in the room like biscuits, shower mat, shower cap, soap, hand towels etc would have been nice, but could manage without them.
Poor customer relations. Not able to book an evening meal after 5:00pm. Cold breakfast and plates even though we were the first into breakfast
the location is the reason we stay at the metropole. it is just a short walk away from all the attractions.
we have been stopping here for the halloween weekend for 4 years now and our room has got gradually worse. the first year we stayed we were in a massive room with balcony with sea view. this year we were in an internal room with just pigeons for company yet the price has gone up every year.
